How to Modify MetaHuman DNA RBF Poses with Mesh Morpher Classic

A MetaHuman DNA does more than store expressions - it carries RBF poses, the joint-driven correctives that fire automatically as the skeleton moves: the wrist that keeps its shape as it bends, the neck that holds volume as the head turns. When a custom character breaks one of these corrections, the fix belongs in the DNA itself. This tutorial shows how to do it with Mesh Morpher Classic, directly inside Unreal Engine.

What RBF poses do

RBF solvers inside the DNA watch a set of driver joints. As those joints rotate toward a stored trigger configuration, the solver blends in a corrective pose - extra joint movement that keeps the deformation looking right in exactly that range of motion. They work on any DNA mesh, body included, and they are usually invisible until a custom character moves outside what the stock corrections expect - then the artifact shows up mid-motion, blended with everything else. Editing the pose in the DNA fixes it at the source.

The workflow in Classic

  1. Open your MetaHuman in the Poser in Mesh Morpher Classic.
  2. Select the RBF pose you want to fix. The pose's own bones are what you are editing - not a blended expression, not the whole rig at once.
  3. Adjust the bone transforms until the corrective puts the joints where your character actually needs them at that trigger rotation.
  4. Bake the change back into the DNA. The corrected pose becomes part of the DNA file itself, so it fires everywhere the DNA is used.

Why fix poses at the DNA level

A corrective baked into the DNA travels with the character: every LOD, every project that loads the DNA, retargeted animation, even environments where morph-based patches are not an option. You fix the pose once instead of patching its symptoms per level or per sequence - the same reasoning as editing DNA bone expressions rather than stacking corrective morphs on top.
